Who's’ helped you get to the top? Gratitude with Attitude

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, In : Doing Business

When you look around at the truly successful people that surround you, wether in the media, the business people we hear about or simply the person down the hall, it’s not readily known who has helped them along the way.  No one gets to where they are without a little bit of help from their friends.

I may not be at the top of my profession, however I do feel successful in my own way and I have a few people that I have so much gratitude for, that I feel it is time to tell you about m...

You Want Me to Do What?

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Sunday, July 17, 2016, In : Doing Business

Figuring out what you don’t like to do would seem like an easy thing to figure out. Not always.  As a relatively new business owner, I wanted to please everyone and take on any new possibility.  As I spent time gathering new clients, I started to see which projects were not for me, either they required skills that needed a specialized skill set: PR or things that I didn’t even like doing for myself and I had someone do for me: cleaning out a refrigerator.

Recently I sat down with ...

What the Heck is a Stress Scarf?

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Saturday, January 23, 2016, In : Doing Business

When I was engaged to be married, I was stressing out about this important event coming up in my young life.  Coping with the my nervous energy, I started needle pointing several projects.  This  hourly monotonous repetition of stitching calmed me down.  Not only did I avoid the pitfalls of eating everything in the house, I had two completed projects to hang on my walls in my new home.

Everyone copes with stress differently.  I have a girlfriend who when she gets stressed out doesn’...

Networking, Who Needs It?

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Friday, January 22, 2016, In : Doing Business

You do!!! When I first heard about networking, I was unconvinced.  Mind you, I was in new territory, being out of a job for the first time ever in my working career and so unsure of myself.  I really didn’t see how this would be beneficial.  Then I finally got clued in!

We all have built in networks in our daily lives that we don’t give much thought about.  The moms you see in the carpool line.  The men at the tennis club.  The families you see on a weekly basis at your house of w...

As Adults is it too late to Learn?

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, In : Doing Business

Growing up my mother was constantly taking classes.  Her passion was textile artistry, many would have deemed her an expert. To her, she was always hungry to learn more, never satisfied with knowing what she already knew.

As a child, school was fun for me. However, history was not my strong suit.  Now, reading Historical fiction novels, I am learning history in a form of a story, not just dry dates and events.  Too bad our educational system doesn’t teach history like that, taking a...

Are you worth what your paid?

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, In : Doing Business

At the inception of my new career, someone asked me what I charged? I had no idea what to answer. I thought of what I was paid doing similar work for employers I had worked for, always feeling I should be paid more. So why did I quote the hourly wage I had been making when I was never satisfied?

My brother told me I should ask for more? We went back and forth, coming to a rate I was comfortable with. Why was I so nervous thinking people wouldn't pay this higher rate? As women, especia...
