Give me a "T"

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Friday, July 14, 2017, In : Life

I went to camp for 11 years, 8 of those years to overnight camp, each session lasting 3 1/2 weeks.  It was only 45 minutes away, as I realized later as an adult, but it was worlds away from my everyday life.  The spirit, camaraderie and the sheer joy I felt at my home away from home kept me coming back year after year.  Singing camp songs and cheers gave you the instant feeling of belonging. Friends you made at camp are life long.  They have seen the very best and worst of you and the...

Got Google?

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Monday, March 28, 2016, In : Life

One day, as I was doing a search on my computer, choosing my favorite search engine,  Google, my curiosity got the better of me and I decided to hit the picture above the Google logo.  It was St. Patricks day and the animation came alive with a dancing shamrock.  Another time it was the first day of spring, clicking again, bunny’s started hopping and then I was brought to a webpage educating me on the Spring Equinox.  Clicking another day brought me to the Doodle 4 Google National p...

Have You Ever Listened to the Silence?

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Sunday, March 20, 2016, In : Life

When I take my dog Bella on her daily walk, like most people who aren’t walking with a human companion, I would plug into my iPhone and listen to my music.  However recently, I have been going earbud free.  Listening to the wind, birds chirping or just the crunch of the gravel under my feet, is more relaxing to me then even soft music being piped into my ears.

Have you ever really listened to silence? There still seems to be something to listen to. For me, I run through things I nee...

Are People Put in Our Path for a Reason?

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Sunday, February 21, 2016, In : Life

"I've heard it said,

That people come into our lives,

For a reason.

Bringing something we must learn.

And we are lead to those,

Who help us most to grow if we let them.

And we help them in return."

~For Good, Broadway Show Wicked

I was attending a committee meeting when I recognized one of the members walk in. I recognized her but didn’t know her very well.  As we were both walking out, we started chatting and hit it off immediately.  We talked business and we set up a time for me t...

Can You be Both a Conservative and a Liberal?

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Saturday, February 6, 2016, In : Life

I think of myself as a pretty liberal person on most topics. However, I was listening to a guest speaker the other day talk and I found myself so closed minded about who she was and what she was saying that I just had a flash through my brain, can I be both conservative and liberal at the same time?

The political rollercoaster is in full swing. Bernie Sanders is declaring his liberalism and Hillary Clinton is doing her best to do the same.  Do they have any conservative views? On the ...

What’s On Your Bucket List?

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Sunday, January 31, 2016, In : Life

I never heard of a bucket list until the movie of the same name came out in 2007 starring Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson.  Maybe I hadn’t reached that time of life when it had debuted. I guess, now I have.  My bucket list isn’t long but I can see it growing.

Bucket Lists are opportunities to focus yourself on a challenge that hopefully you’ll grow from.  Entries could be traveling to different countries, attempting something challenging, conquering a fear or simply seeing som...

Why every household needs rubber bands.

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Friday, January 15, 2016, In : Life

I was recently working at a client’s home, organizing her office area and I needed rubber bands.  She had none in her house! How is that possible? I use rubber bands all the time. They work so much better than those dreaded plastic chip clips that ultimately break.  They help keep tissue paper that is rolled up nice and neat so it doesn’t come undone.  I use it on the lid of jars to help me grab ahold of it to better to get the tough top pried off.

I don’t even pay for my rubber...

Got Junk?

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, In : Life

I recently spent time at a client's home who needed help clearing the junk out of her house.  She was frozen in her ability to make a decision on what to keep and what to give away.  I spent hours over the Winter break going though her basement, main floor and bedrooms.  Once the clutter was cleared out and what she loved was organized, she almost had a skip in her step.  She felt both physically and emotionally lighter.

I often take one day a week to go through my own (and family’s...

Can You Accept Your Friend for Who They Are?

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Thursday, January 7, 2016, In : Life

My daughter often complains about a particular friend who doesn't reciprocate the kind of energy to their friendship that she is giving. A friend complains about a similar thing in one of her friendships.  We all experienced these kind of relationships in our lives, whether in a romantic, business or simply a friend. Often they make us feel empty and exhausted inside.

When both my daughter and friend confide in me about their frustrations, I simply have the same advice.  They need to ...

Do You Have 20 Seconds of Courage?

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, In : Life

When I was younger, I was bashful to ask for things.  A trip to go on with my friends, new clothes or something else I coveted.  I learned from a young age, that if I wanted something bad enough you work hard to get it.

In my early years of working, I was intimidated to ask for a raise.  Women in the work place, at least in my experience, are afraid to rock the boat and feel comfortable keeping the status quo, unlike many male counter parts.  Jennifer Lawrence recently blogged about t...

Who are we at birth?

Posted by Alayna Langnas on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, In : Life

I was thinking about my children the other day and who they are.  Their essence hasn’t changed from when we first brought them home.  When my daughter was about 6 months old, she would practice bringing her hands together while lying on her baby blanket over and over again. She practiced her walking along the couch until she was confident enough to take her first tentative steps.  Anything she attacks, she does with vengeance and practice.  Today, she studies really hard, this being...

What I’ve learned in my 50 Years

Posted by Laynie Langnas on Sunday, November 22, 2015, In : Life

As my impending birthday is rounding the last corner, I can’t help but reflect back on what lessons I have learned during my time on earth:

Life is really better if you live by the “Golden Rule”.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.  Whether you call it Karma or by another name, life is always better if you follow this simple lesson that most of us learned in preschool.

Often people believe in you more then you believe in your self.

My brother was the one who pu...
