You Want Me to Do What?

Figuring out what you don’t like to do would seem like an easy thing to figure out. Not always. As a relatively new business owner, I wanted to please everyone and take on any new possibility. As I spent time gathering new clients, I started to see which projects were not for me, either they required skills that needed a specialized skill set: PR or things that I didn’t even like doing for myself and I had someone do for me: cleaning out a refrigerator.
Recently I sat down with a friend of mine. I am completely in awe by her ability to think outside the box and how to zero in on certain details to help me become successful. Her open heart to assist other entrepreneurs was safe and inviting. Sitting down with her, we discussed my likes and dislikes on the projects I have taken on. She simply said, “Don’t do those anymore”. Having permission to say no the next time I am asked felt enlightening.
Part of the allure of being your own boss, is taking on things you love to do and people finding value in it. However, there is a fine line between doing things to pay the bills and just taking a job to fill the time. I’m hoping that feeling more empowered will allow the type of projects I am looking for to ensure my success with Leave it to Laynie. What have you done that you haven’t wanted to do in your business?
